Frequently Asked Questions
Simply scan any found game pieces with a smartphone that has internet access and a QR code reader. Scanning a QR Wild game piece will reveal the hidden message provided by the game creator and earn a "find". Some game pieces unlock badges that will appear in your profile visible to other players. Check out this game play example cartoon. To take your enjoyment one step further please consider hiding your own game pieces around your town!
No, this is optional, however, you will be unable to unlock any location based badges without sharing your GPS location during finds.
We have tested with Android and iPhone phones, but you should be able to play with any phone that has a QR Code reader and internet access. GPS functionality adds to the features available.
From the "My Games" tab you may click on the "Generate New Game Piece" button or download a PDF containing multiple unique unactivated game pieces. Once you have a game piece saved or printed, place it wherever you like - either uploading to someplace on the web where others will find it or printing out and hiding it in the physical world somewhere. Once your game piece has been placed scan it with your smartphone's QR Code reader to activate. The activation procedure is simple and quick, you will be prompted for the game piece name, the message you would like displayed to any finders and optionally attach it to a Foursquare or Facebook Places location to allow the finder to check-in (Requires that you select Static Location on the activation form). Keep in mind that this is a family friendly game when placing and describing your game piece. Click here for an example game.
You may save the image to your computer and post to online forums or web pages, or print them out and place them anywhere (legal) in the physical world! Usually you will want to place game pieces someplace semi-public so that people who know what they are will be able to stumble upon them fairly easily. If you are creating multi-piece games a popular strategy is to leave the first game piece someplace public and let the message provide hints to where the remaining game pieces are hidden. Please use common sense when placing game pieces, DO NOT brake any laws or violate anyone's privacy. This is a family friendly game, do not place game pieces where other players may be hurt or put into danger while playing your game.
When activating a code you have the option to attach it to an existing game. The existing game drop-down list will contain all the game pieces and games that you have created. Once you have a game with multiple game pieces you may rename the game so that the game as a whole is not known by the first game piece's name.
You may edit most game piece options from the "My Games" page. You may not, however, move a game piece from one game to another. If you need to delete a game piece, please note that once a game piece has been deleted it is removed from the found list of other players, only delete a game piece if it is absolutely necessary.
Deleted game pieces are removed from the system completely. A new game piece can take its place with the same name by another user. Deleting a game piece takes that find away from players that have already found the game piece, please keep that in mind when deleting game pieces. Sometimes it might be better to simply destroy the physical game piece so that it can not be found again, but leave it in the system so that users that have already found the game piece keep the find credit associated with it.
